Member-only story
It’s always been my dream to be a full time writer, making enough money to replace having a full time job. I have spent the last year in heavy pursuit of that, working to create content as much as possible and pushing my mind and body past its limit. While I’ve gotten closer to that dream than ever before, I have paid for it with my sleep schedule. This month is the first month I’ve gotten a good night’s sleep in over a year. I’ve always had trouble with nightmares and whatnot, but the last year of my life has been the worst so far. It got to the point where I was occasionally passing out, falling asleep in the middle of work (thankfully I was still working from home), and getting sick multiple times a month. It was incredibly unhealthy and absolutely nothing helped.
For reference, here is a list of what I tried, in order of trying it:
- Fixing my schedule
- Cutting out electronics
- Cutting out blue light
- White noise
- Brown noise
- Black noise
- Car noise
- Airplane sounds
- Water noises
- Nature sounds
- Instrumental music
- Lyrical music
- Heavy metal
