As any new mom knows, taking your body back after having a child is difficult. After a few weeks, you’re waking up from the post labor haze and seeing a stranger in the mirror. Stretch marks, left over bloating, difficulty exercising and let’s not forget all that soreness in muscles you didn’t even know existed!
So how do you get it back? Where do you find the woman you were before being taken over? Trust me, it’s possible to recover as long as you’re dedicated.
Ladies, put the diets away! I’ve found the diet free solution and it’s actually pretty easy!
First things first, take your time.
You heard me. Do not feel rushed. You just had a child ripped out of you that you’ve been carrying for nine months. Your body is in shock still, and you probably have some level of postpartum depression. It’s okay to take baby steps, and using extreme solutions like dieting or difficult workouts can actually make it even harder to recover from pregnancy and hurt you in the long run.
Secondly, keep eating those veggies. If you’re like me, veggies were sort of the optional food group before pregnancy. Being raised in the south, I grew up on healthy doses of meat, potatoes and sweet tea. I took advantage of my pregnancy by force feeding myself large helpings of leafy greens daily, eventually making myself enjoy the taste. Keeping up with my daily intake of veggies and limiting my coffee consumption made a world of difference in my quest to bring myself back into shape.
